Job summary

Design Works Engineering Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer with a strong background in both field and design work to join our Toronto/Burlington team. This on-site role requires hands-on site inspections and detailed street/land development projects across Ontario.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers, prepare Civil 3D drawings, reports, and cost estimates, and contribute to high-impact municipal projects while delivering excellent client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• 5+ years in municipal or land development.
• PEO-registered professional engineer in good standing.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Experience creating Civil 3D templates.
• Strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections and site visits for civil projects.
• Prepare detailed civil drawings and designs using Civil 3D.
• Prepare civil engineering reports and analyses.
• Prepare construction cost estimates, specifications, and contracts.
• Perform calculations for water, sewer, and drainage systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.

The position:

We are actively seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer with a strong background in both field and design work to join our talented team. This is an on-site position working out of either our Toronto or Burlington office.

Responsibilities:

• Perform field inspections and site visits for various civil engineering projects.
• Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings and designs by using Civil 3D.
• Prepare civil related engineering reports and analyses.
• Prepare construction cost estimates, project specifications and contract documents.
• Perform engineering calculations for water, sewer, and drainage systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, project team members, and stakeholders on various projects.

What you bring?

• A degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in municipal/ land development.
• Must be a registered professional engineer in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
• Experience building Civil 3D templates.
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate with other disciplines and work as a team player.
• Effective time management and strong organization skills.
• Self-starter and attention to details.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• A valid Driver’s License as site inspections and travel will be occasionally required.
