Binnie is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our Burnaby team in the Alternative Design Services Division. The role focuses on highway design, EOR responsibilities, and leading conceptual to detailed designs for transportation projects in British Columbia.

You will mentor staff, review work, and ensure quality within Binnie’s design standards. You will work closely with engineers and project managers, manage contracts and estimates, and engage with clients.

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years of experience in transportation engineering.
• Registration as a P.Eng with EGBC is required.
• Ability to lead design management for multi-discipline projects.
• Experience with Alternative Design Assignments is a strong asset.
• Valid BC Driver’s License and vehicle preferred.
• Strong transport engineering background and leadership in reviews.
• Ability to guide team and review AutoCAD/Civil3D work.
• Excellent communication and time management; meets deadlines.
• Commitment to accuracy, quality, and ongoing learning.

Binnie is looking for Civil Design Engineer to join our Alternative Design Services Division, which focuses on alternative delivery model assignments. Our Transportation Design team has been recognized for notable projects including leading the Highway 11 Interchange Design-Build assignment, the 78st Interchange and the detailed design of over 30 km of Highway 29.

The position is full-time based out of our Burnaby office, located near scenic Deer Lake. You will work closely with our talented and diverse team of experienced Engineers and Project Managers at varied experience levels. This dynamic and challenging role offers excellent mentorship opportunities.

You will deliver a variety of alternative design engineering projects, and act as the Engineer of Record (EOR) for the projects. You will play an integral role in projects. You will lead the development of conceptual and detailed designs, perform peer reviews of technical deliverables, review engineering designs and documents prepared by others and follow Binnie’s quality management system. You will guide, direct, train, and mentor technical staff such as EIT’s and Co-Op Students. This is an excellent opportunity for career advancement in a growing team within Binnie.

Your Role

• Technical management of multidisciplinary engineering projects which include highway design and collaborating with specialized sub-disciplines.
• Leading the development of highway engineering designs from conceptual design to detailed design in accordance with applicable design guides/codes and client standards.
• Preparation of contract documents and costs estimates and assisting with the tender process.
• Preparing engineering calculations in accordance with current standards
• Serving as EOR and signing and sealing engineering drawings, technical reports and memoranda.
• In coordination with the Project Manager, communicate with clients and other external project stakeholders to advance the project work successfully
• Review project documentation for accuracy and completeness and prepare and/or modify moderately complex reports and calculations under the guidance of more senior staff as required

What You Bring

• A minimum of 7 + years of related experience in a transportation engineering environment
• Registration as a P.Eng. with EGBC
• Ability to lead the design management of transportation projects involving multiple disciplines
• Experience in Alternative Design Assignments is considered a strong asset
• Valid BC Driver’s License and personal vehicle preferred
• Strong experience in transportation engineering
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership to review other’s work including AutoCAD and Civil3D designs.
• Strong communication and time management skills and ability to work concurrently on several different projects
• Ability to consistently maintain a high degree of accuracy and quality
• Ability to effectively meet project demands and deadlines
• Strong desire for continuous learning and ability to provide technical guidance and expertise to the team

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $110,960 - $166,100 annually. The final salary for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
