Job summary

Norland is hiring a Civil Construction Estimator (Junior/Intermediate) for our Rossland, BC team. You will prepare bids, analyze drawings and specs, and develop accurate estimates for heavy civil and infrastructure projects while supporting project delivery and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• 2–5+ years of experience in estimating, project coordination, field operations, construction, or a related role.
• Experience in civil construction, heavy civil, infrastructure, utilities, earthworks, or road construction is an asset.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and tender documents.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with estimating software is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
• Strong commitment to safety and a desire to learn and grow in civil construction.
• Ability to work both in office and field environments while managing competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Solicit, evaluate, and incorporate supplier and subcontractor pricing into tender submissions.
• Assist in the preparation of bid packages, proposals, pricing summaries, and contract change pricing.
• Identify project risks, cost‑saving opportunities, and value‑engineering solutions during estimating.
• Collaborate with project managers, field teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors to support delivery, budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
• Participate in site visits and pre‑bid meetings while promoting Norland's safety, quality, environmental compliance, and OH&S standards.
