Knappett Industries (2006) Ltd. in Courtenay, BC is seeking a Civil Construction Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including earth works, site works, road construction, and underground utilities.

The role requires reviewing drawings and specs to develop take-offs and pricing strategies, and using estimating software such as MS Excel and HeavyBid to produce detailed proposals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years cumulative applicable work experience in civil construction.
• Excellent eye for detail and strong communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects (earth works, site works, road construction, underground utilities).
• Review drawings, specs and site conditions to develop quantity take-offs and pricing strategies.

Civil Construction Estimator

This role will focus on the preparation and documentation of accurate cost estimates and competitive tenders that will result in successful construction. Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including earth works, site works, road construction, and underground utilities.
• Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop quantity take-offs and pricing strategies.
• Utilize estimating software (MS Excel and/or HeavyBid) to produce detailed estimates and proposals.
• Identify and pursue opportunities in both public and private sectors.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and other Estimators to review tenders and refine estimates.
• Participate in pre-construction planning, bid reviews, and post-award project kick-offs.
• Provide estimating support to project teams during execution, as needed.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of cumulative applicable work experience.
• Familiarity with civil construction.
• Great attention to detail and overall social skills.
• Strong organization and communication skills, with the ability to multitask.
• Skilled in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, knowledge of MS Project.

This position is compensated at a salary between $95,000 - $135,000, DOE. Employees are eligible for enrollment in our company benefits package following successful completion of a three month probationary period. Compensation will be determined by the successful applicant’s level of training and experience. Submissions will be reviewed and only short-listed applicants will be contacted for interviews. Relocation expenses will be considered within Western Canada for the right candidate.
