Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. in Canada is seeking an Engineering Co-Op Student to gain hands-on experience in land development and municipal infrastructure projects, starting May 2027.

You will work with industry mentors who are passionate about developing the next generation of engineers. The role includes field inspection of infrastructure, preparing inspection reports, topographic surveys, as-recorded drawings, and cost estimates with tender docs, while collaborating to learn and grow.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Civil Engineering program.
• Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
• Clear and confident communication (oral and written).
• Willingness to learn, take initiative and collaborate in a team.
• G license and access to a vehicle.
• Preference for candidates with AutoCAD/Civil3D and surveying aptitude.
• Physical and environmental requirements available on request.

Responsibilities

• Fieldwork on-site construction inspection of storm, sanitary, water, and road infrastructure.
• Prepare status and daily/weekly inspection reports documenting observed work.
• Complete topographic surveys.
• Prepare as-recorded drawings as needed.
• Prepare construction cost estimates, tender documents, and specifications.
• Take on additional opportunities to learn and grow.

• Fieldwork, including full-time on-site construction inspection of installation of storm, sanitary, water, and road infrastructure.
• Preparation of status and daily and weekly inspection reports for documentation of work observed.
• Completing topographic surveys.
• Preparing as-recorded drawings, as needed.
• Preparation of construction cost estimates, tender documents, and specifications.
• Taking on additional opportunities to learn and grow as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Enrollment in a Civil Engineering Program
• Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
• Clear and confident communication skills (oral and written).
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and collaborate in a team setting.
• G license and access to a vehicle.
• Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience.
• Preference will be given to candidates with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil3D, and surveying aptitude and experience.
