Job summary

The Salvation Army in Canada is seeking a Christmas Support Worker to assist Community and Family Services during the holiday season on a temporary basis. This full-time role (35 hours per week) supports donations processing and distribution at the Christmas program.

Responsibilities include sorting donations, arranging pickups, helping set up hampers, and recording data. A High School diploma and a valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a personal vehicle are required, with flexibility for

Job Description

Position Purpose summary:

The Christmas Support Worker provides support to the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis.

Accountabilities

• Assist with processing, unloading, documenting, and sorting donations of toys and food for the Christmas program and assist with preparing donated items for distribution.
• Assist with pick-ups of food and toy donations from community donors using program vehicle.
• Assist with set up and take down of toy and food Christmas hamper distribution centre.
• Assist with sorting toy donations.
• Record statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
• May assist in the Kettle campaign where needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions

This is a temporary full time position based on 35 hours per week.

Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.

Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.

Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.

Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs. (11.34 kgs) in a safe manner.

Local travel may be associated with this position.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications

Completed High School or equivalent

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.
• Strong skills in all Microsoft Office products and good working knowledge and experience with email and internet-based programs
• Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver's abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
