Job summary

BGC York Region Club is seeking motivated individuals to facilitate after-school programs for children aged 6–13 for the 2026-2027 school year, with hours 2:40 PM–5:30 PM at multiple locations in Richmond Hill, Keswick, and Newmarket.

Responsibilities include promoting core values, delivering engaging activities in physical, arts, STEM, and nutrition, supervising participants, ensuring safety, liaising with parents and school staff, and supporting documentation.

Qualifications

  • Educational background applicable to the position.
  • Experience working with children is an asset.
  • Strong skills in sports, arts, recreation, science (STEM), tech, education, health, and nutrition.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Strong supervision and program planning skills.
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification (to be completed upon hiring).
  • Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring).
  • HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset).
  • Safe Food Handlers (asset).

  • Provide participants with instruction on a variety of motor skills and physical activities.
  • Supervise after-school program participants and promote safety, respect, conflict resolution, leadership, and life skills.
  • Ensure safety and security of participants in the program.
  • Maintain health and safety standards of food and storage areas.
  • Liaise with parents/guardians on issues of concern.
  • Maintain communication with school administrators and interns.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with peers, volunteers, parents, and the public.
  • Enforce policies and procedures and monitor attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Program Locations & Hours
  1. Crosby Heights Public School (190 Neal Drive, Richmond Hill) 2:40pm to 5:30pm
  2. Lake Simcoe Public School (38 Thornlodge Drive, Keswick)

2:40pm to 5:30pm

3. Maple Leaf Public School (155 Longford Drive, Newmarket)

2:40pm-5:30pm

*Must be available to work Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday between 2:40 PM- 5:30 PM.

This is a contract position from October 2026 (TBA) to June 18, 2027.

BGC York Region Club serves children and youth in the York Region and surrounding communities, providing social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs. We are looking for motivated people to facilitate our after-school children's program for the 2026-2027 school year for children ranging in ages from 6 - 13 years old.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote the core values of BGC Canada and achieve its operating standards
  • Implement and facilitate effective physicalfun activities,arts, science (STEM),and nutrition activities that engage learners and reflect the various learning styles of Club members
  • Provide participants with instruction on a variety of motor skills and physical activities designed to enhance the development of every participant
  • Supervise after-school program participants in the program, and promote safety, respect, conflict resolution, leadership, and life skills
  • Ensure the safety and security of the participants in the program
  • Maintain health and safety standards of food, and areas of food storage and preparation
  • Liaise with parents/guardians on issues of concern or relevance to their children
  • Maintain communication and close working relationships with local school administrators and post-secondary interns, and placement students' supervisors
  • Maintain a professional relationship with peers, members, volunteers, parents, and members of the public
  • Enforce policies and procedures and initiate the discipline process when required
  • Ensure weeklyparticipantattendance is monitored and coordinate with the administrative staff to maintain accurate documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Educational background applicable to the position.
  • Experience working with childrenisanasset.
  • Strong skills in one or more of the following areas: sports, arts (dance, music, crafts, drama, etc.), recreation, science (STEM),tech,education,health,and nutrition.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment.
