Job summary

BGC Jane and Finch is seeking enthusiastic Youth Summer Camp Mentors to support the delivery of our summer camp programs for children aged 11-18 in Toronto, Ontario. Mentors will help create a fun, inclusive, and safe camp experience with daily activities and positive role modeling.

Ideal candidates will have leadership or supervisory experience in camps or childcare, current First Aid/CPR certification, and be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs.

Qualifications

  • Educational background applicable to the position.
  • Experience working with children ages 6-12.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in camp, recreation, or childcare settings (preferred).
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment under Canada Summer Jobs.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (mandatory).
  • Police Reference Check completed within the last 6 months (mandatory prior to start date).
  • HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset/required).
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

Position Summary

We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Youth Summer Camp Mentors to support the delivery of our summer camp programs for children ages 11-18. Mentors will play a key role in creating a fun, inclusive, and safe camp experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and actively engage children in daily camp activities
  • Plan and lead recreational, educational, and creative programming
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times
  • Foster positive behavior and act as a role model
  • Assist with daily routines, transitions, meals, and outdoor activities
  • Communicate effectively with staff, participants, and families
  • Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Qualifications

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in camp, recreation, or childcare settings (preferred)
  • Must meet all Canada Summer Jobs requirements, including:
    • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
    • Be legally entitled to work according to provincial/territorial legislation
    • International students are not eligible; recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Strong program planning and organizational skills
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (mandatory)
  • Police Reference Check completed within the last 6 months (mandatory prior to start date)
  • HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset/required)
