Job summary

BridgeWay Family Centre in Brampton is seeking a part-time Children’s Program Assistant (one year contract) to support the Healthy Start and Growing Together In Peel (GTIP) program. You will assist staff in delivering activities for pregnant women, children birth to 6, and their caregivers, ensuring a welcoming environment.

You will work closely with staff and volunteers, help with setup/cleanup, plan age-appropriate activities, and maintain a safe, respectful space.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children an asset.
  • Emergency First Aid/CPR B or C.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and works well within a team environment.
  • Ability to work some flexible hours.
  • Additional language(s) an asset.
  • Some light lifting required.

Responsibilities

  • Program Delivery: Assist staff with setup/cleanup of chairs, tables and activities; participate in programs and engage with children/families; greet and interact with clients; work with staff, students, and volunteers; ensure confidentiality; assist with cleaning and opening/closing routines; plan age-appropriate activities; keep areas organized and ready for use; prepare materials for upcoming programs; welcome and engage with clients; share program information with families and connect them with staff when needed.

Position: Children’s Program Assistant, part time (one year contract)

Reports to: Program Manager

Department: Program – Healthy Start and Growing Together In Peel (GTIP)

Job Summary

The Children’s Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the staff to deliver programs and services to pregnant women, children (birth – 6) and their caregivers.

Duties and Responsibilities
Program Delivery
  • Healthy Start/GTIP – Assist staff with the set up and clean up of chairs, tables, children’s program activities, serving/clean up of food/food items
  • Work alongside staff by participating in programs, positively engaging with the children and families in attendance
  • Greet and interact with clients and families in a friendly and supportive manner
  • Work as part of a team with other staff members, students and volunteers
  • Ensure cultural sensitivity and client confidentiality are preserved at all times
  • Assist with centre/site cleaning, toy cleaning, tidying up routines and opening/closing routines
  • Plan and prepare age-appropriate activities for children based on their age and interests
  • Keep toys, children’s activity areas and materials clean, organized and ready for use
  • Use time when children are not at the site to plan activities, organize toys and prepare materials for upcoming programs
  • Welcome and engage with clients and families in a friendly and supportive manner
  • Share relevant program information and resources with families and connect them with appropriate staff when needed
Other Activities
  • Keep informed by reading agency emails, staff newsletters, agency notices as well as partner notices
Qualifications

Salary: $23.00 per hour
