Job summary

BGC Toronto Kiwanis Club is seeking a Children’s Services Coordinator for a maternity leave contract in Toronto. You will manage after-school programs for ages 6-13, coordinate with leadership, hire and train staff, and support program operations and reporting.

The role requires a college diploma in social services or related field, CPR/First Aid and High Five certs, and strong communication and organizational skills. All work is in-person in Toronto.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Social Services, Child & Youth Work, Recreation or related field (required).
  • University degree in Social Services or related field (preferred).
  • CPR, First Aid, and High Five certification required/preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, planning, implementation, evaluation, and administration of programs for children aged 6-13 (after-school, breaks, camps).
  • Coordinate with Manager on short/long-term plans for Children’s Services.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and support part-time/contract staff.
  • Maintain program registration and data for funding reports.
  • Provide support to children and families in Club programs.

Job Posting: Children's Services Coordinator (Maternity Leave Contract)

Location:BGC Toronto Kiwanis Club - 101 Spruce Street, Toronto

Contract Duration:12-18 months (Maternity Leave Replacement)

Start Date:September 22, 2026

Salary:$45,000 plus paid benefits, two weeks of paid vacation, ten sick/personal days

Hours:37.5 hours per week, primarily Monday-Friday, with limited weekend and evening shifts to support program events. All work is in-person.

Posting Period: August 21, 2026, to September 2, 2026

Closing Date: September 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

About the Role

The Children's Services Coordinator, under the direction of the Manager of Programs & Services, will be the first point of contact for inquiries about After School Program Services. You will ensure smooth administrative workflows and help achieve the operational goals of Children's and Youth Services. This role involves planning, implementing, evaluating, and administering programs for children aged 6-13, while maintaining strong community and member relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, planning, implementation, evaluation, and administration of programs for children aged 6-13, including after-school, school breaks, and holiday camps
  • Coordinate with the Manager of Programs & Services on short and long-term plans for Children's Services
  • Support the Manager by recommending changes to policies, procedures, and programs
  • Hire, train, supervise, and support part-time and contract staff
  • Maintain program registration and statistical information for funding reports
  • Provide support to children and families in Club programs
  • Implement behaviour management techniques as needed
  • Stay involved in the professional field to interpret trends and support agency changes
  • Develop and maintain strong member and community relations
  • Serve on community committees as assigned
  • Provide leadership in staff training, including identifying needs, developing resources, implementing, and evaluating training
  • Manage performance of staff working with children in various programs
  • Ensure compliance with agency purpose and all applicable legislation and regulations (including High Five)
  • Submit monthly reports as required
  • Adhere to the Children's Services budget
  • Act as a positive role model, instilling agency values in children, youth, and staff
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for inquiries about Children's Services
  • Monitor phone calls and emails, responding appropriately and promptly
  • Ensure all systems and administrative workflows support department goals
  • Schedule tours, coordinate intakes, referrals, screening, and member billing
  • Participate in fundraising and public relations initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • College diploma in Social Services, Child & Youth Work, Recreation, or a related field (required)
  • University degree in Social Services or a related field (preferred)
  • CPR, First Aid, and High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification
  • Minimum 2 years' experience leading social recreational programs for children/youth, including experience with racialized and marginalized young people
  • Ability to work with children and youth ages 6-13
  • Solid understanding of behaviour management techniques and child development
  • Basic knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities and programs
  • Good knowledge of Toronto and surrounding communities
  • Strong morals and ethics, commitment to confidentiality/privacy
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in pressing/emergency situations
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License is an asset
