Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a committed Child Welfare Officer for a fully remote position. The role focuses on safeguarding the well-being of children and supporting families by providing guidance, resources, and intervention when necessary.

You will engage with families and stakeholders through virtual platforms, assess situations, and coordinate services to ensure child safety. The position offers the opportunity to advocate for children from anywhere, with ongoing access to training in child

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Registered with SACSSP or equivalent.
  • Experience in child protection, family support, or social work.
  • Strong understanding of child development, family systems, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and crisis intervention skills, adapted for remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct remote assessments of child safety and family needs.
  • Develop and implement protective service plans for children at risk.
  • Provide counseling and support to children and families.
  • Liaise with schools, healthcare providers, and community agencies to coordinate services.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential case records in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Provide advocacy for children's rights and prioritize their best interests.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a committed Child Welfare Officer for a fully remote position. This vital role focuses on safeguarding the well-being of children and supporting families by providing guidance, resources, and intervention when necessary. You will engage with families and relevant stakeholders through virtual platforms, assessing situations, developing support plans, and coordinating services to ensure child safety and positive development. This position offers the unique opportunity to advocate for children and families from anywhere, contributing to stronger communities across the Northern Cape and nationally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct remote assessments of child safety and family needs.
  • Develop and implement protective service plans for children at risk.
  • Provide counseling and support to children and families experiencing difficulties.
  • Liaise with schools, healthcare providers, and other community agencies to coordinate services.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential case records in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Provide advocacy for children's rights and ensure their best interests are prioritized.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in child protection, family support, or social work.
  • Strong understanding of child development, family systems, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and crisis intervention skills, adapted for remote work.
  • Proficiency in using case management software and virtual communication tools.
