Job summary

Sagkeeng CFS is seeking an experienced investigator to oversee all investigations of reported child maltreatment within the agency’s jurisdiction and provide interventions and direction as required, in collaboration with law enforcement, medical personnel, and other collaterals.

Qualifications include a BSW or related degree, minimum one year abuse investigations experience, knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• BSW or social sciences degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1 year abuse investigations/direct working experience in child welfare.
• Working knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and Regulations.
• Experience in case management and planning in child welfare.
• Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills; problem solving and interpersonal abilities.
• Valid class five driver's license with insured vehicle.
• The ability to speak and/or understand Ojibway is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and follows up on all reports of alleged abuse and interviews alleged offenders.
• Within 30 days, ensures substantiated or inconclusive reports are reviewed by the agency child abuse committee.
• Provides consultation in investigation and case management as directed by the committee.
• Ensure culturally appropriate services are provided to families in the community.
• Ability to handle complaints and attend court when required.
• Organize and assist monthly child abuse committee meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
