Job summary

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is seeking a casual Child Care Supply to support early childhood education across multiple locations in Orillia, Coldwater, Cumberland Beach, Severn and Warminster. You will assist with daily care, supervision and play-based learning in a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities include personal care, safety, open communication with families and staff, and adherence to schedules. Availability for opening/closing shifts and outdoor activities is essential; commitment to

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Current Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR (Level C) or complete within 90 days.
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Up-to-date immunizations per local guidelines and Child Care Act.
• Ability to commit to required shift patterns (mornings, afternoons, or full days).
• Passion for working with children and promoting play-based learning.
• Strong written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 20 kg, and work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to children, including toileting/diapering and basic first aid.
• Supervise and engage groups of up to 15 children in a safe setting.
• Plan and implement play-based learning per YMCA Curriculum.
• Maintain positive communication with families, staff and volunteers.
• Create an inclusive environment supporting diverse needs, including exceptional behaviours.
• Uphold YMCA Mission, Vision and Values in daily practice.
• Adhere to schedules to maintain ratios and notify supervisor of changes.
• Demonstrate flexibility with routines and shifts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
