Job description

The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick responds to critical social needs in the community and works to provide solutions. The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick offers a diverse set of programs at 12 locations in the city and surrounding municipalities.

The Regional Y offers Infant Care (12-24 months), Child Care (2-5yrs) and After School Programming (5-12yrs). Our licensed program follows not only the NB Curriculum but also the national YMCA Playing to Learn Curriculum, which is designed specifically to guide the development of your child.

About The Opportunity

The Supervisor provides supervision and coaching to staff, volunteers and students within the Saint John Regional Y Child Care and After School Program ensuring program excellence. The Supervisor will provide leadership and on-site coaching to staff team ensuring program excellence. The Supervisor will provide leadership and stability in the development and delivery of programs. The Supervisor will also provide leadership in the set-up and day-to-day operational activities including the recruitment, management and supervision of the Regional Y Child Care and After School Program team. This will be a contract-based position for the duration of the year, covering maternity leave.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality child care delivery, adhering to YMCA and New Brunswick standards.
  • Manage budgeting, metrics reporting, and center finances.
  • Provide supervision, recruitment, and performance management of staff.
  • Implement Policies and Procedures for a safe environment.
  • Build community partnerships and lead marketing efforts.
  • Coordinate day-to-day program affairs and ensure necessary conditions for delivery.
  • Handle administration and record-keeping and uphold child protection policies.
  • Analyze center metrics and manage budgets effectively.
  • Implement and monitor program development and training initiatives.

Skills And Qualifications

  • ECE Certificate or Diploma.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Child Care or After-School programs.
  • Experience supervising a team, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, and training.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, and maintain focus and productivity in a busy work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working in a team setting as well as individually.
  • Strong understanding of the NB Curriculum Framework and the Playing to Learn program is an asset.
  • First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and clearance from the Department of Social Development.
