Job Overview:

The Patient Access Team Lead is responsible for providing excellent customer service, ensuring timely patient throughput, and accurate data collection. The role involves greeting patients, collecting and documenting their information accurately, and utilizing technology for registration. The Team Lead also fosters a positive environment for patient and staff satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of registration processes, billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care
  • Medical terminology and computer skills

Preferred:

  • CHAA or CRCR Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of Patient Access experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Evening shift, 3:00pm-11:30pm
  • Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients and staff
  • Interview patients and responsible parties to gather demographic and financial information
  • Verify insurance coverage and initiate the verification process
  • Ensure all forms are reviewed, signed, and properly explained
  • Inform patients of their financial responsibilities and collect payments
  • Support cashier functions as needed
  • Complete Medicare questionnaires for eligible patients
  • Review work queues daily to update and correct information
  • Manage patient bed assignments and monitor bed board system
  • Demonstrate proficiency in registration and financial clearance processes
  • Maintain accuracy, productivity, and meet department goals
  • Follow policies on patient rights and advance directives
  • Provide all regulatory documents and obtain signatures
  • Maintain department productivity and customer service standards
  • Identify and resolve operational issues proactively
  • Participate in staff training and development
  • Lead department initiatives to improve operations and compliance
  • Monitor and achieve point of service collection goals
  • Assist with system troubleshooting and patient throughput
  • Collaborate with nursing and ancillary departments
  • Take on-call responsibilities as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
