Job summary

BrightPath Early Learning & Child Care in Leaside, ON is seeking a full-time Cook to prepare nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch and snacks for the children in our care. When not cooking, you will assist our teachers in the classrooms and help with light duties.

The role includes coordinating food orders, serving meals from a catered service, and upholding Public Health safety standards. No evenings or weekends and a strong team environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Food handling certification preferred.
• Current Standard First Aid and Infant CPR.
• Effective time management skills.
• Experience cooking for large groups would be an asset.
• Meet provincial childcare employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Organizing orders for food as needed.
• Serving meals from a catered service provided daily.
• Ensuring safety and sanitization in the kitchen environment as per Public Health requirements.
• Understanding dietary restrictions in centre for individual children.
• Washing dishes after meals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Additional information:

Our meals are catered at Leaside, so no cooking is required. The kitchen is located in the basement, and our centre has stairs. Kitchen staff must be comfortable carrying lunch bins up and down the stairs to serve our 8 classrooms. The role also includes light cleaning and weekly laundry duties.

What will you be doing?
