Job summary

BrightPath Kids in Leaside, ON is seeking a full-time Cook to prepare nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch and snacks for children. You will also assist teachers in classrooms when not cooking, with a focus on safety and sanitation in a catered kitchen.

The role requires food handling certification and First Aid/Infant CPR, plus time-management and experience cooking for large groups. No evenings or weekends; growth opportunities and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Food Handling Certification preferred.
• Meet province requirement for childcare employment.
• Current Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR.
• Effective time management skills.
• Experience cooking for large groups would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
• Assist teachers in classrooms when not cooking.
• Organize orders for food as needed.
• Serve meals from a catered service provided daily.
• Ensure safety and sanitization in the kitchen per Public Health requirements.
• Understand dietary restrictions in centre for individual children.
• Wash dishes after meals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-Time

Additional information: Our meals are catered at Leaside, so no cooking is required. The kitchen is located in the basement, and our centre has stairs. Kitchen staff must be comfortable carrying lunch bins up and down the stairs to serve our 8 classrooms. The role also includes light cleaning and weekly laundry duties.

No evenings or weekends!

What will you be doing?

As a Cook, you will prepare nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the children in our care. When you are not preparing food, serving meals, or cleaning, you will work in the classrooms to assist our teachers. Responsibilities include:
