Overview:The Child and Youth Worker will provide direct care and support to residents in a structured, trauma-informed environment. The CYW will play a key role in building strong, supportive relationships with the youth, assisting them with daily routines, emotional regulation, life skills, and community integration. This role also includes active participation in care planning, documentation, and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct care and supervision to children and youth in a residential setting
- Support daily living activities including meals, hygiene, school preparation, and recreation
- Implement individualized support plans and behavioral strategies
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations and provide de-escalation support
- Maintain daily documentation including logs, incident reports, and behavior tracking
- Facilitate structured and spontaneous activities to promote personal growth and development
- Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and training sessions
- Communicate effectively with team members, clinical staff and family supports
Qualifications:- Diploma in Child and Youth Work (CYW) or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children/youth in residential or therapeutic settings
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and CYFSA standards
- Certification in First Aid/CPR and CPI (or willingness to obtain)
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required)
- Valid G-Class Driver’s License preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge or training in human trafficking prevention, mental health, addiction, attachment disorders, trauma-informed practices, and suicide intervention
