Job summary

National Bank of Canada is seeking a Chief Solutions Architect for the Wealth Management team to lead design and implementation of innovative technology solutions. You will mobilize experts, promote governance, and guide delivery across development and production.

Strong leadership, architecture practice, and experience with APIs, Kafka, Kubernetes, and cloud relevant to financial services are required. Fluency in French and English preferred; relocation to Montreal may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7–10 years in solutions architecture or equivalent.
• Experience as a Solutions Architect in financial services.
• 5+ years with APIs, microservices, ESBs, Kafka and related tech.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of solutions meeting functional and non-functional requirements.
• Mobilize subject matter experts to design architecture aligned with strategy.
• Promote architecture governance and conduct peer reviews.
• Evaluate costs and ensure delivery from development to production.

A career as a Chief Solutions Architect within the Wealth Management team at National Bank means acting as a specialist in the design and implementation of innovative solutions. Through your leadership, experience, and advanced expertise in technology and systems integration, you will have a direct impact on both the client experience and the profitability of the business sector. Your advanced knowledge of technology and solution architecture practices will enable you to support our brokerage and investment specialists in delivering innovative solutions.

• Mobilize various subject matter experts to design solutions that meet both functional and non-functional business requirements while aligning with the organization’s strategic objectives.
• Demonstrate authentic leadership and a servant leadership mindset.
• Participate in peer reviews and support fellow architects when they require assistance.
• Simplify and promote the architecture governance process among project teams.
• Contribute to the evolution and continuous improvement of the solution architecture practice.
• Evaluate implementation and maintenance costs of proposed solutions.
• Stay informed of technological trends and understand their impact on business processes and applications, communicating these impacts effectively to diverse audiences.
• Contribute to the preparation and execution of planning exercises (SAFe PI Planning).
• Ensure the successful delivery of activities under your responsibility, from development through production deployment, while maintaining high-quality technology solutions.

You are part of a team of 20 colleagues in the wealth Management sector and report to a Senior Manager. Prerequisites

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience as a Solutions Architect within the financial services industry.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with systems integration technologies, including APIs, microservices, ESBs, Kafka, and similar technologies.
• Experience with Java, Kafka, and Kubernetes is considered an asset.
• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Sybase, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Knowledge of security concepts and standards, including SAML, OAuth, and OpenID.
• Experience with AWS cloud solutions (AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification is an asset).

Languages: French, English

Reason to require this language: you will need to work closely with our colleagues outside Quebec.
