Job description

Maxwell Management Group Ltd. is proud to partner with Shalom Manor & Gardens in the search for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to join their team.

Lead with Faith. Serve with Vision. Build a Legacy. Fulfill a Purpose.

Shalom Manor & Gardens, a Christian, faith-based, non-profit organization, is seeking a visionary CEO, grounded in servant leadership, who can inspire teams, nurture a strong faith-centred culture, and steward the organization through one of the most dynamic seasons in its history.

With a history of growth at the Grimsby campus and the opening of a new campus of care in Hamilton in 2027, the CEO will help shape a future where faith, compassion, and excellence come together to serve generations to come.

Founded in the 1970s, Shalom Manor and Gardens has faithfully served seniors within the Reformed Christian community, offering long-term care, assisted retirement living, and a culture of compassion that reflects Christ’s love. With over 300 staff and 90+ volunteers today and a team that will soon double, Shalom Manor and Gardens is preparing for a future that will expand its mission while staying deeply rooted in faith.

The Opportunity:

As CEO, you will provide strategic, operational, and spiritual leadership across two campuses, ensuring Shalom Manor and Gardens continues to deliver high-quality, person-centred care in alignment with the principles of resident directed living grounded in Christian values.

You will:

  • Oversee construction, staffing, and launch of the new Hamilton site.
  • Champion a culture of servant leadership and model Christ-like values in daily decisions, from the front line to senior leadership, with a strong understanding of operating in a highly government-regulated environment.
  • Work closely with the Board on strategic planning, policy development, and governance.
  • Strengthen relationships with donors, church networks, government, and healthcare partners.
  • Steward financial sustainability and oversee an operating budget expected to grow from $14.5M to over $30M.
  • Ensure residents and families experience dignity, respect, and belonging in a Christ-centred home.
Who You Are:

You are a devoted Christian leader with a calling to serve seniors. You bring:

  • 5+ years of senior executive leadership, ideally in long-term care, healthcare, or senior living.
  • A proven record in multi-site operations, capital development, and change leadership.
  • Experience in dealing with unions, labour relations, and building cohesive teams.
  • Long-Term Care Administrator’s Certification (or willingness to complete) as well as a degree in Health or Business Administration. Master’s Degree an asset.
  • A collaborative, humble leadership style marked by resilience, wisdom, and the ability to make informed decisions quickly.
Why Lead at Shalom Manor & Gardens?
  • Shape the future of a respected Christian organization entering a bold new chapter.
  • Lead a passionate team, supported by an engaged Board and strong community partners.
  • Play a central role in one of the largest faith-based LTC expansions in Ontario.

Carry forward a mission that integrates faith, compassion, and excellence in elder care.

If you feel called to lead where faith and leadership meet, guiding Shalom Manor & Gardens into its next season of growth and service, we invite you to apply.

If this opportunity is not a fit for your background and experience please feel free to forward to any interested colleagues.

We invite interested candidates to submit their resume in confidence. While we appreciate the interest of all applicants, we will contact only those selected for interviews.

We are equal opportunity employers committed to an inclusive, barrier-free recruitment and selection process. We respect, encourage, and celebrate diversity.
