Job summary

LifeLabs in Mississauga is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist for a permanent, part-time role (0–20 hours/week) with a Day Shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM). The position is in Chemistry, with weekend availability 1–2 times monthly and up to 4–5 weeks of training.

Qualifications

• College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education/experience.
• CMLTO registered and in good standing.
• Excellent communication skills to relate with a wide variety of people.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team while maintaining safety and efficiency.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with curiosity.
• Ability to distinguish multiple colors.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office and laboratory analyzers.
• Problem solving skills including issue follow-up.
• Maintain strict safety, patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
• Prepare and process samples with accurate labeling and documentation.
• Perform, interpret and release results, ensuring patient confidentiality.
• Identify incidents and non-conformities and contribute to corrective actions.
• Assist with evaluation and implementation of new technology.
• Participate in problem solving for workflow improvements.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and keep a clean, organized workplace.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
