LifeLabs is seeking a Medical Lab Assistant in Mississauga to support testing and diagnostic processes for a wide range of patients.

This permanent, part-time role (0–20 hours/week) offers flexible shifts (6:00 AM–2:00 AM) and an ASAP start date, with union participation under OPSEU LAB. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Unpack and sort a wide variety of incoming specimens from physicians, clinics, hospitals, and LifeLabs technicians.
• Confirm the accuracy of all patient information on requisitions and specimens, resolve issues, and perform required data entry.
• Prepare, sort & separate specimens for technical analysis.
• Respond to client inquiries and work with the logistics department.
• Train and orient new team members.
• Perform weekly and monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Ensure all work complies with laboratory safety and security policies and regulations.

Job description

Status: Permanent, Part Time (0 - 20 hours per week)

Shift: Flexible Shift schedule requirement (6:00 AM - 2:00 AM)

Your responsibilities will include:

• Unpack and sort a wide variety of incoming specimens received from sources including physicians, clinics, hospitals, and mobile LifeLabs technicians.
• Confirm the accuracy of all patient information on requisitions and specimen samples, resolve any problems or inaccuracies prior to testing, and perform required data entry.
• Prepare, sort & separate specimens for technical analysis.
• Respond to client inquiries & work in cooperation with the logistics department.
• Train and orient new team members.
• Perform weekly and monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Conduct all work in full compliance with all laboratory safety and security policies and regulations.

What you will bring to the role:

• Successful completion or graduation from a recognized Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) program is an asset.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Candidate must be detail oriented with the ability to focus, prioritize and multi-task.
