Job summary

Dexterra Group in Ontario is seeking a Breakfast Cook for a short-term lodge contract (June–August). You will prepare breakfast, manage inventories, and ensure food safety while keeping a clean, appealing display for guests.

Required are a current Food Safe certificate and large-scale camp cooking experience. PVSC level 3 may be needed; lodging and meals are provided for the full term.

Qualifications

• PVSC level 3 clearance may be required.
• Ability to stay at the lodge for the full duration June–August.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast for guests at the lodge.
• Maintain consistent quality and follow dietary requirements.
• Operate and sanitize kitchen equipment safely.
• Comply with Food Safety Act and HACCP logs.
• Complete production and inventory records as required.
• Assist with end-of-shift cleanup and restock supplies.

Full-time

The Breakfast Cook contributes to the overall success of the culinary team by getting our guests started each day with a hearty breakfast and is responsible for producing all required items as per contract scope daily, while maintaining a clean and enticing display of products during service. The Breakfast Cook will demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.

This is a short-term contract between June-August, requiring the individual to remain at the lodge for the full duration. All travel, accommodations, meals, snacks and beverages are provided.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and cooking breakfast for guests at site
• Ensuring consistent quality of standard in over-all food preparation as per clients' requirements including consideration to special dietary constraints
• Ensuring proper equipment operation, safety, and sanitization in the kitchen
• Complying with food safety regulations in accordance with Food Safety Act
• Completing all HACCP and Production logs as required
• Preparing adequate quantities of the menu choices by following all production quotas set and budget guidelines
• Performing end-of-shift cleaning, sweeping, and mopping of workstation
• Receiving and storing all supplies (food, beverage, chemical and paper/disposable)

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Current Food Safe certificate is required
• Large scale camp cooking experience required
• Red Seal or other certification is an asset
• Experience in accurately producing weekly inventories
• High standards in maintaining a clean and organized Kitchen
• A self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little or no supervision
• Passion for the outdoors with the ability to commit to the full duration of the work term while remaining at the lodge for the full duration
• Ability to successfully complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) level 3
