Job description

Mission Hill Family Estate:

Over forty years ago, Mission Hill Family Estate was founded with a visionary dream: to transform the Okanagan Valley into a globally celebrated wine region. Through a relentless pursuit of excellence and a deep respect for the land, we have crafted wines that rival the world’s best, including Canada’s first 100-point red wine. Guided by a commitment to sustainability and bold innovation, our mission is to put the Okanagan Valley on the world stage, cementing Mission Hill Family Estate as an enduring icon in the global wine community.

Our Culture:

Our culture is driven by passion, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. As a family-owned business, we empower every team member to make an impact. Our team are bold thinkers with entrepreneurial spirits who embrace challenges, strive to set new benchmarks, and take ownership in everything they do. Collaboration, authenticity, and a shared love for creating world-class experiences define how we work together to achieve extraordinary results.

Your Culinary Journey:

At Mission Hill Family Estate, our culinary program is dedicated to the sourcing and promotion of local, sustainable, seasonal food. Our Cuisine du Terroir approach lends itself to a light-handed manner of preparation that respects the character of the ingredient and where it is sourced. Our varietal and herb gardens are steps away from our kitchens, and we educate and encourage our team members to explore foraging opportunities that lay at our doorstep.

We strive to ensure our team acquires the knowledge and appreciation of the valley and the winery needed to surpass our guests’ expectations. Each team member will have the opportunity to hone their culinary skills and develop professional relationships that will last a lifetime while working with our accomplished and celebrated culinary team.

The Life of a Chef de Partie:

  • Demonstrate your exemplary culinary skills through your leadership over key culinary stations in the kitchen.
  • Ensure the consistency and quality of all meals created.
  • Create menus and daily fresh sheets.
  • Maintain accountability for brigade and all matters of the kitchen (cleanliness, organization, communication, time management, execution of service).
  • Assist the Sous Chef with ordering and receiving of ingredients.
  • Contribute to the morale and well-being of the kitchen brigade.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 2-year experience in a first-class culinary environment.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of contemporary cooking styles and ingredients.
  • A sincere interest in developing food and wine pairing knowledge.
  • Comfortable meeting the physical requirements of the position including lifting to 50 lbs., standing for long periods of time, and navigating stairs.

Bonus Points:

  • Second language considered an asset.

What We Offer:

  • Comprehensive paid training and access to extensive wine education.
  • We offer competitive compensation that recognizes individual and company performance. The typical hiring range for this position is $23/hour.
  • Discounts at the Terrace Restaurant, Events, Wine Experiences and at our Boutique on gifts and wine.
  • Free tastings for you and your guests.
  • The opportunity to work in a “Post Card” setting on our iconic property.
