Job Description:

As a Team Leader - Talents and Operations, you will play a key role in developing efficient and compliant payroll processes, establishing robust process controls, and managing payroll documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and Canadian regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Optimize Payroll Processes:
    • Develop, design, and implement end-to-end payroll processes aligned with business needs and Canadian regulations.
    • Assess and improve payroll workflows for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
    • Ensure proper payroll processing, reporting, tracking, and controls.
  • Process Planning and Documentation:
    • Create detailed flowcharts, step-by-step guides, and update work instructions for payroll processes.
    • Ensure payroll processes are well documented and accessible to stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth integration with HR, Finance, and IT systems.
  • Process Controls and Compliance:
    • Implement and enforce internal controls to mitigate payroll risks and ensure compliance with Canadian labor laws and tax regulations.
    • Incorporate audits and validations to detect and correct errors promptly.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Management:
    • Serve as the point of contact for HR Solutions Center (PSC) team members regarding payroll and HR solutions.
    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for payroll and HR administration processes in Canada, providing support to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Work closely with HR, Finance, IT teams, and external vendors to align payroll processes with organizational goals.
    • Conduct training sessions to ensure team understanding of payroll processes and controls.
  • Systems and Technology Integration:
    • Collaborate with IT teams to align payroll systems with process requirements.
    • Support system implementation or upgrades, ensuring process integration and optimization.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in payroll process design, operation, or consulting within Canada.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Deep knowledge of Canadian payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Workday, Ceridian, ADP) and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Ability to document and map processes using tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or similar.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Payroll certification or process improvement certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) is a plus.
  • Experience in an international organization or shared services environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and financial system integration is a plus.
