Job summary

Wright Tree Service of Canada is hiring a Certified Utility Arborist/Utility Tree Trimmer to join our field crew. The role reports to the Project Manager and involves directing trimmers, pruning and removing trees near utilities, and ensuring equipment safety and compliance.

Working full-time, you will operate on a 10-on/4-off shift cycle with travel time compensation where applicable, and you may access benefits and potential employee-ownership opportunities as part of Wright Canada Holdings.

Qualifications

• Certified Utility Arborist (CUA/UA) or Utility Tree Trimmer (UTT), or ability to challenge exam.
• Basic knowledge of trees, growth habits and arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.
• Ability to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather and environmental conditions.
• Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy.

Responsibilities

• Direct, instruct, and direct tree trimmers, equipment operators and groundworkers.
• Trim and/or remove trees by climbing with ladder, safety belt, climbing line, powered trimmer lift truck, or from ground with saws/pruners.
• Remove or trim trees/brush encroaching onto utility or transportation rights of way.
• Inspect and ensure proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other equipment.
• Ensure on-the-job safety practices are followed by all crew members.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assign, instruct, and direct tree trimmers, equipment operators and groundworkers.
• Trim and/or removes trees by climbing with the aid of a ladder, safety belt, climbing line, powered trimmer lift truck, or work from the ground using saws/pruners.
• Removal or trimming of trees and brush encroaching onto utility or transportation rights of ways.
• Assume responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment.
• Ensure on-the-job safety practices are followed by all crew members.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
  

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

• Certified Utility Arborist (CUA or UA) or Utility Tree Trimmer (UTT), or ability to challenge exam.
• Basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing.
• Valid drivers’ license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift, move and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Ability to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather and environmental conditions.
• Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy.
