Job summary

Wright Tree Service of Canada is seeking an Apprentice Utility Arborist in Vancouver. This full-time field position involves loading/unloading logs and debris, assisting with site setup, and performing physically demanding labor while prioritizing safety and teamwork.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean record (air brakes a plus), and First-Aid/CPR certification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper.


• Assist in site set-up and take-down, including equipment handling and maintaining site cleanliness.


• Commitment to working safely and supporting a positive team environment.


• Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions.


• Other duties as required.

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

• Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits.


• High School Diploma or equivalent.


• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record; air brakes endorsement is a plus.


• Ability to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.


• Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.


• Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.


• Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.


• Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.


• Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.
