Job summary

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) seeks a Certified Millwright to join P&H Milling in Halifax, NS. You will perform preventative maintenance, repair and service on plant equipment, ensuring safety and reliability to maximize production efficiency.

Day-to-day duties include assembly, inspection, lubrication, diagnostic repairs, and adherence to health, safety and food safety training. On-call work may be required in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Journeyman/Red Seal Millwright certification required.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• Able to work in dusty, hot, outdoor environments.
• Knowledge of quality control and BRCGS standards is a plus.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 25 kg.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Available for on-call work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, align, dismantle and position stationary machinery per specs.
• Inspect, diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment.
• Lubricate and perform routine maintenance on machinery.
• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, gauges, indicators).
• Troubleshoot hydraulic system issues.
• Perform general facility maintenance.
• Participate in fumigation/heat treatment when required.

The Role

We are seeking a Certified Millwright to join our P&H Milling team. This role is responsible for conducting routine preventative maintenance, service, repair, and maintenance of plant and facilities equipment in a safe and efficient working manner. Maintaining the safety and reliability of machineries and equipment is critical in achieving optimal production efficiency of the plant operations and production.

Day to Day

• Assemble, align, dismantle and position stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to specifications.
• Inspect, diagnose and repair malfunctioning machinery and equipment.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
• Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, feeler gauges etc.
• Troubleshooting any issues with hydraulic systems.
• Perform general facility maintenance.
• Participate in fumigation/heat treatment. Note: working in higher temperatures is involved during fumigation.
• Complete and comply with all health, safety and food safety training relating to the job.
• Ability to complete fall arrest, forklift, telehandler, and scissor lift training.
