Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Grande Prairie is seeking a Casual/Relief Surgical Processor to decontaminate, reassemble and sterilize hospital supplies and instruments in the Medical Device Reprocessing Department at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

You will apply aseptic techniques, perform QA testing, ensure equipment operates correctly, and report any issues to the supervisor. MDR program completion and HSPA/CSA certification are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited MDR program.
• HSPA or CSA certification as required.
• As needed, other qualifications may be requested.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, reassemble and sterilize hospital supplies and instruments.
• Apply aseptic technique and universal precautions to prevent infections.
• Ensure equipment is in proper working order and conduct QA testing.
• Report problems to the supervisor and maintain accurate records.

Description:

As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.
