Job summary

St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg is seeking an MDR Tech 2 to assist in reprocessing reusable medical devices and equipment. You will transport items across MDR locations, prepare trays and supplies, and maintain accurate records, working under supervision in a busy hospital setting.

The role requires completion of an MDR program with practicum, Grade 12, and the ability to work in a team with strong attention to detail and confidentiality. This term position is in-person with regular hours.

Qualifications

• Must have completed MDR program and practicum at an accredited institution.
• Grade 12 or equivalent required.
• Six months MDR experience within the last three years (training may be waived at manager's discretion).

Responsibilities

• Assist with reprocessing of reusable devices and equipment for patient care.
• Transport devices to and from MDR areas across hospital sites.
• Prepare devices, trays, equipment and supplies for ward, surgical and clinical procedures.
• Restock supplies and perform cleaning duties; maintain records and documentation.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Health Services and Supervisor, Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR), and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the MDR (Medical Device Reprocessing) Tech., is responsible for assisting with functions related to reprocessing reusable devices and equipment for patient/client use and care, which includes transporting such devices to and from areas throughout the hospitals; preparing devices / trays / equipment / supplies for ward, surgical and clinical procedures; restocking supplies; performing various cleaning duties; documenting, reviewing and maintaining records; and performing other related duties as assigned. The position’s work locations are MDR-Main, MDR OR and MDR - Endoscopy.

Experience

• Six (6) months MDR experience during the immediate preceding three (3) years to be considered when training for MDR work in the MDR-OR or MDR-Endoscopy.
• This experience clause may be waived at the discretion of the Manager, Health Services MDR.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Grade 12 or recognized equivalent.
• Successful completion of a regionally recognized and approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program and MDR practicum from an accredited institution.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, twist and reach constantly throughout the entire shift.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment/trays weighing up to approximately 40lbs/18 kgs.
• Ability to maneuver and push/pull loaded carts.
