Job summary

Canfor Green Energy in Grande Prairie, AB is seeking a Certified Electrician to maintain, repair, install and modify power plant equipment, maximizing uptime and production. You will inspect electrical systems, diagnose issues, program PLCs, and uphold safety standards.

As a Journeyman or Red Seal certified electrician, you will collaborate with maintenance and operations teams, communicate clearly, and ensure reliable operations across the mill while complying with safety protocols and policies.

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyman or Red Seal
• A strong background in PLCs and troubleshooting
• Strong commitment to safety
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with others to perform all aspects of maintenance activities.
• Completion of Grade 12, GED or a minimum of 5 years related work experience

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on electrical systems within the mill.
• Diagnose and repair electrical issues in machinery, sensors, transmitters, and other equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs and other control systems to enhance efficiency and precision in mill processes.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working with electrical systems.
• Identify and address electrical safety hazards within the power plant environment to maintain a safe working atmosphere.
• Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with other maintenance and operations personnel to coordinate electrical repairs and maintenance activities.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to convey information about electrical systems and potential improvements.
