Job summary

Generations Toronto is hiring a part-time Certified Cook for the Long-Term Care residence. You will prepare and serve meals, handle special diet orders, and supervise Food Services workers while maintaining sanitary conditions.

Requires a Safe Food Handling Certificate and a diploma/certificate in quality food preparation. High school education is preferred; Toronto location with on-site kitchen operations and a 0.4 FTE workload.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Cook, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Current provincial Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• A diploma/certificate or equivalent in quality food preparation and production.
• High school education is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for residents on time while maintaining food quality.
• Direct Food Services Workers in duties and ensure safe, sanitary work areas.

AgeCare has been appointed as the manager of the Generations Toronto long-term care home and is recruiting the Cook on behalf of Generations Toronto. **The Opportunity** The Cook of the Long-Term Care residence is responsible for ensuring that proper meals are prepared and served on time and that work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition. **What Is In It For You** •Checks special diet orders for new admissions to ensure they are correct (as required). •Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Food Services Manager/Supervisor. •Directs Food Services Workers in the performance of their duties and assumes responsibility for the operation of the Food Services Department (as required). **What You Will Need** •Prior experience as a Cook preferably in a supervisory capacity. **•Current provincial Safe Food Handling Certificate.** •A minimum of public-school education is required.
