Job summary

Generations Toronto, managed by AgeCare, is seeking a Cook for its Long-Term Care residence. You will prepare and serve meals on time and maintain sanitary work areas.

You will review special diet orders, respond to resident or family concerns, and direct Food Services Workers while ensuring safe operation of the department. A Safe Food Handling Certificate and a high school diploma or equivalent are required. Canadian work experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Cook, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Current provincial Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• High school education is preferred; diploma/certificate in quality food preparation and production is required.

• Respond to resident or family concerns and escalate as needed to the Food Services Manager/Supervisor.

The Opportunity

The Cook of the Long-Term Care residence is responsible for ensuring that proper meals are prepared and served on time and that work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.

What Is In It For You

• Checks special diet orders for new admissions to ensure they are correct (as required).
• Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Food Services Manager/Supervisor.
• Directs Food Services Workers in the performance of their duties and assumes responsibility for the operation of the Food Services Department (as required).

What You Will Need

• Prior experience as a Cook preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Current provincial Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• A minimum of public-school education is required. High school education is preferred.
• Must have a diploma/certificate or equivalent in quality food preparation and production.

Salary Range: $26.03 - $27.64 per hour
