Job summary

Infinity Fuel Cell Technology is seeking a Cell Engineer to design subcomponents for electrochemical cells and to advance flow plate assemblies with various substrates and fluids.

You will work with CAD and ANSYS tools, apply first-principles thinking, and collaborate with customers and partners to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet project timelines across international teams. You0

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Applied Science or Physics is required.
  • Minimum 4 years in a similar cell/engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of structural design, thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid flow.
  • Familiar with CAD programs and ANSYS for analysis.
  • First-principles mindset and ability to plan scope within timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Design critical subcomponents for electrochemical cells and related tech.
  • Develop flow plate assemblies for varied substrates and fluids with sealing and assemblies.
  • Develop engineering tools and calculations for new applications.
  • Interface with customers to align expectations and ensure manufacturability.
  • Travel internationally to support customer projects.

As IFCT’s Cell Engineer…
  • You'll be responsible for designing critical subcomponents for a variety of electrochemical cells and other technologies.
  • You’ll develop flow plate assemblies to work with a variety of substrate materials and fluids, the related sealing, electrode and compression assemblies.
  • You’ll develop engineering tools and calculations to provide design guidance for new applications.
  • You’ll interface with customers, aligning expectations and ensuring our internal activities will best meet their needs.

Working in partnership with the rest of the team, your role will be to understand the tolerances and physics driving the design, while ensuring manufacturability with our multinational partners. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you’ll leverage your flair for collaboration, as you work with an array of internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science or Physics
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of structural design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid flow design and selection of mechanical components
  • Familiarity with Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs
  • Analytic mindset, with experience using analysis programs, such as Ansys
  • Self-starter mentality, with a strong first-principles background
  • A proven track record of planning the scope of work and working within tight timelines as part of a project team
  • Capable of fully owning and solving problems with multiple variables, while using strong discretion
  • Very detail-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel internationally to support customer projects
Great-to-Haves:
  • P.Eng. designation or eligibility would be considered an asset
  • Familiar with the practical use of AI agents
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Previous background with fuel cells and/or fuel cell systems is highly preferable
  • Proficient with PTC Creo
  • Experience with statistical analysis based on manufacturing capabilities
