This role supports a glazing team by applying and finishing caulking and sealants on steel door frames and architectural metal products. The Caulking Technician ensures a clean, uniform appearance while meeting quality standards and weatherproofing requirements. The position requires strong attention to detail, steady hand skills, and experience with surface preparation and finishing techniques in a construction environment.

Responsibilities
  • Apply and finish caulking and sealants on steel door frames and architectural metal products to achieve a clean, uniform appearance.

  • Prepare surfaces thoroughly before caulking, including cleaning, smoothing, and ensuring proper adhesion conditions.

  • Follow specified weatherproofing requirements to ensure durable, long-lasting seals in various environmental conditions.

  • Use hand tools safely and effectively for caulking, finishing, and related tasks on construction sites.

  • Read and interpret blueprints or drawings as needed to understand installation and sealing requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with the glazing team to support window, glass, and architectural metal installations.

  • Inspect completed work to verify quality, consistency, and compliance with project standards.

  • Lift, carry, and position materials and equipment weighing 50 lbs or more as part of daily tasks.

  • Follow all site safety rules, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a safety-focused work environment.

  • Assist with general construction and labour tasks related to glazing and finish carpentry as required.

Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience working on a construction site.

  • At least 1 year of experience installing windows or glass.

  • Ability to safely lift and carry 50 lbs or more.

  • High level of comfort and proficiency using hand tools.

  • Experience with finish carpentry or similar detailed finishing work.

  • Familiarity with glazing work and handling glass.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.

  • Strong attention to detail and steady hand skills for precise caulking and finishing.

  • Understanding of basic construction practices and site safety requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Division 8, 10, and 28 construction specifications.

  • Experience with low voltage wiring.

  • Experience installing integrated blinds.

  • Previous experience working on large institutional or healthcare construction projects is an asset.

  • Ability to work overtime when required to meet project timelines.

Work Environment

This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
