Job Description : JOB PURPOSE :

The Support Attendant is responsible for the supervision of clients / property through regular rounds of inspection.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB DUTIES :

• Makes scheduled rounds of inspections checks safety / security monitors clients / residents and premises; maintains an atmosphere of calm providing an unobtrusive presence
• Understands and is aware of emergency / disaster procedures and follows through
• Liaises with referral sources and other external agencies as needed (e.g. police parole urgent situations)
• Coordinates client care relating to security issues; may be directly involved in taking urine samples doing bed checks and room / personal searches
• Reports security problems to appropriate staff.
• Ongoing enforcement of policies which may include client discipline or recommending banning of current or prospective clients
• Meets visitors and directs and accompanies them as necessary; may include contact to resident / client
• May serve as Relief Front Desk Clerk
• Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED :

The successful job applicant will have completed High School plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months.

SPECIAL LICENSES DIPLOMAS CERTIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS :

Immunization for Hepatitis B

Vaccination against Tuberculosis

WHMIS training

Current Certification in First Aid / CPR

Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC)

Mental Health FirstAid

MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE :

One year of prior related experience including security experience.

PHYSICAL EFFORT / DEXTERITY REQUIRED :

The performance of the job requires continuously performing walkabouts and occasionally keyboarding and lifting / packing clients belongings.

CONCENTRATION REQUIRED :

The performance of the job requires continuously monitoring the environment interacting with clients and occasionally recording information and monitoring security cameras.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL RESOURCES :

The incumbent is involved in minor financial matters regularly or on a relief basis or has responsibility for the wise use of his / her own resources. He / She may be authorized to spend disburse or collect small amounts of cash. The incumbent has very little input into the annual budget.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES :

The incumbent is responsible for his / her own time and effort only. He / She may demonstrate work methods to new employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

The incumbents work environment is typically in a shelter and / or in Treatment facilities / grounds.

HOURS OF WORK :

Shifts : 8 : 00am to 4 : 00pm 4 : 00pm to 12midnite 12midnite to 8 : 00am

Shifts are 8.0 hours of paid time

Compensation :

The target hiring range for this position is $28.30 to $28.68 with a maximum of $29.05.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
