Job summary

Entreinstitute seeks a Casual On-Call Community Support Worker to help improve the quality of life for residents in group settings. You will support daily living activities, participate in program implementation, and work with families, staff, and other organizations to meet needs.

The role requires flexibility, a certificate or relevant experience, CPR/First Aid, and the ability to perform lifts. A driver’s license and safe driving record are preferred for travel.

Qualifications

Job description

About your role as a Casual On-Call Community Support Worker:

As an integral part of the Community Living Team, you will support the quality of life for the persons served by ensuring that their physical, social, vocational, educational and medical needs are met. You will also participate in the implementation of all aspects of the participants’ program, including agency policies, procedures and philosophy. You will assist residents to live successfully in group settings such as group homes and ensure that their needs are met. You will also help enhance the residents’ quality of life with activities of daily living and the development of life skills.

Requirements of the job:

• A Community Support Worker Certificate, or equivalent education and experience
• Three months’ experience delivering similar services supporting individuals with disabilities in community settings
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Valid Food Safety Certification
• You will need to have a driver's license, a current and satisfactory criminal record search and driver's abstract, a physician’s health reference, a negative TB test
• Experience using Microsoft Office suite, preferred

Additional information:

• Applicants must provide at least one written professional reference from a previous supervisor or manager.
• This position is open to all qualified individuals and requires Union membership (BCGEU)
  
• May be required to use personal vehicle
• Successful applicants will be required to obtain a Class 4 driver’s license in order to pass the trial period
