Job summary

AVENS – A Community forSeniors in Yellowknife is looking for a skilled cook to join a brand new kitchen. You will prepare healthy meals for 57 residents, with a focus on special diets and consistent quality in an institutional setting.

Reporting to the Food Services Manager, the cook will work in a casual, part-time capacity with an emphasis on reliable scheduling and food safety. A completed culinary program and Food Safe certification are expected.

Qualifications

• A completed culinary program.
• At least two years of experience in commercial or institutional cooking.
• Experience working with the elderly is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification and WHMIS 2015 are assets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare healthy and nutritious meals for AVENS’ 57 residents.
• Accommodate special diets and institutional cooking requirements.
• Report to the Food Services Manager and ensure quality service.

AVENS currently has an opening for a skilled culinary professional in our brand new, state of the art kitchen!

Reporting to the Food Services Manager, the Cook is responsible for preparing healthy and nutritious meals for AVENS’ 57 residents, with an eye for special diets and institutional cooking.

Education and Experience Requirements

• A completed culinary program
• At least two (2) years of experience in commercial or institutional cooking
• Experience working with the elderly is an asset
• Current and valid Food Safe Certification and WHMIS 2015 is an asset

Successful applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector criminal record check.
