Job summary

Pier 4 is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician in Cambridge to renovate and maintain residential units. You will read drawings, perform carpentry tasks, and coordinate with other trades to ensure quality workmanship.

The role requires at least five years of relevant experience, a valid Ontario driver’s license, and the ability to work on-site full-time. Expect competitive pay, safety training, and after-hours on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of carpentry, construction, renovation, or residential maintenance experience.
• Ability to read drawings, scopes of work, and project specifications.
• Knowledge of Ontario Residential Tenancies legislation is an asset.
• Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain a reliable vehicle and personal hand and power tools.
• Complete residential unit turns, renovations, and repairs in vacant and occupied suites.
• Read and interpret drawings, scopes of work, and project specifications to execute carpentry and maintenance projects.
• Construct, repair, and install walls, flooring, doorframes, windows, cabinets, drywall, trim, and other components.
• Install subflooring, vinyl flooring, and luxury vinyl tile (LVT).
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and replace damaged frameworks, fixtures, and building components.
• Collaborate with maintenance team members, contractors, electricians, and plumbers to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Must own and maintain a reliable vehicle and personal hand and power tools.
• Complete residential unit turns, renovations, and repairs in vacant and occupied suites, ensuring units are move-in ready and maintained to company standards.
• Read and interpret drawings, scopes of work, and project specifications to accurate execute carpentry and maintenance projects.
• Construct, repair, and install walls, flooring, doorframes, windows, doors, cabinetry, drywall, trim, and other structural and finish components.
• Install subflooring, vinyl flooring, and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) while ensuring high-quality workmanship and attention to detail.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and replace damaged frameworks, fixtures, and building components as required.
• Performed scheduled and emergency maintenance work orders, including minor electrical and plumping repairs such as lighting, fixture, and toilet replacement.
• Collaborate effectively with maintenance team members, contractors, electricians, plumbers, and other trades to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments while adhering to company safety standards and operational procedures.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies involving building systems and resident needs.

Crucial Knowledge & Skills

• Strong carpentry, renovation, and residential maintenance skills.
• Proficient in the safe use of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and scopes of work.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of residential building systems, maintenance practices, and safety procedures.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform demanding manual work.

Education & Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of carpentry, construction, renovation, or residential maintenance experience.
• Proven experience completing residential repairs, renovations, and unit turnovers.
• Previous experience in residential property management, maintenance, or multi-residential environments is considered an asset.
• Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Eligible to work in Canada and successfully pass a criminal background check.
  
• Knowledge of Ontario Residential Tenancies legislation is considered an asset.
  

Additional Details

• Competitive Salary Range: $55,000-75,000
