Job summary

The Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) is seeking a Journeyperson Carpenter to maintain and repair REAL grounds and facilities. You will perform interior and exterior carpentry, read blueprints, and ensure work complies with building codes.

Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a wage range of CAD 37.78 to 42.29 per hour. Two years of journey-level carpentry, a Saskatchewan Class 5 license, and safety-minded teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• Two years journey level experience and training in rough and finish carpentry.
• Journeyperson Carpenter certification.
• Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's License and clean abstract.
• Knowledge of materials, power and hand tools; methods in building, repair, maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and facilities for needed services and repairs.
• Perform interior and exterior carpentry work for small projects and remodeling.
• Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment.
• Assist with estimating carpentry time and materials for projects.
• Build/modify/install furniture, panels, countertops, cabinets, doors, windows; replace hardware and finish surfaces.
• Read blueprints and plans to prepare layout per local codes.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Fixed Assets and Maintenance, the Journeyperson Carpenter is responsible for maintaining and addressing the day-to-day carpentry needs of REAL grounds and facilities. This includes general building repair and maintenance using a variety of materials. The successful carpenter will possess the ability to think quickly and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. This position is physically strenuous and requires attention to detail.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

1. Ensures quality operational execution of day-to day Carpentry needs throughout REAL property, by:

• Inspect buildings and facilities for needed services and repairs.

• Perform interior and exterior carpentry work involved with small project construction and remodeling.

• Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment.

• Assist with estimating carpentry time and materials for projects.

• Build, modify, create, repair, and/or install furniture, paneling, countertops, cabinets, benches, partitions, doors, and windows. Replace building/door hardware, hang plasterboard, and form and finish concrete.

• Reading and understanding of blueprints, sketches and building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required while conforming to local building codes.

1. Follow safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

2. Other duties as required.

Salary: $37.78 - $42.29

WHAT IT TAKES

Education and Experience

• Two (2) years journey level experience and training in rough and finish carpentry.
• Journeyperson Carpenter certification.
• Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers License and a clean drivers abstract.
• Knowledge of: Specific materials, power and hand tools; and methods used in the building, repair, and maintenance of assigned trade required.
• Must be proficient in and champion a work environment of safe work practices and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
