Job summary

Bird Nason Contracting Group is seeking a Journeyperson Carpenter for a 3-4 week project in Calgary, AB. Work includes finishing carpentry, hoarding installation, and interpreting blueprints on site.

Requirements include a valid Journeyperson certificate in Carpentry, CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, H2S awareness, and familiarity with fall protection. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and at least 2 years of commercial experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015 are required.
  • H2S awareness and fall protection training are required.
  • Journeyperson certificate in Carpentry is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with fall protection and Doka lift plans requested.
  • Must lift, carry and handle up to 50 lbs; 2+ years of commercial carpentry.

Responsibilities

  • Finish carpentry tasks including doors and trim installation.
  • Install, modify and maintain temporary hoardings per safety standards.
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specs.
  • Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes.
  • Measure, cut, shape and join wood and metal components.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, subflooring and walls/roofs.
  • Fit doors, stairs, molding and hardware.

Position Details

Nason Contracting Group Ltd. is currently seeking Journeyperson Carpenters for work at our Compost project in Calgary, AB.

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday
  • Benefits and RRSP Provided As Per Collective Agreement
  • Note: This scope is 3-4 weeks of work.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Finishing with hanging steel doors and grout work
  • Installation, modification, and maintenance of temporary hoardings, ensuring they meet safety standards, building codes, and project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirement
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and/or other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and or roof systems
  • Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, molding and hardware

  • ESC Fall Protection
  • Valid Journeyperson certificate in the trade of Carpentry
  • Familiarity with fall protection and engineered lift plans related to Doka setups
  • Extensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
  • The ability to lift, carry and handle weight up to 50lbs
  • Must have at least2 years of commercial experience
  • Must be organized, self-driven, and have ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
