Job summary

Bird Nason Contracting Group is seeking a Journeyperson Carpenter for a short-term project in Calgary, AB. The role focuses on finishing, hoarding setup, and on-site execution with emphasis on safety and building code compliance.

The candidate should have a valid Journeyperson certificate in Carpentry, CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, and fall protection training, plus at least two years of commercial experience. Schedule is Monday–Friday for 3–4 weeks with benefits per collective agreement.

Qualifications

  • CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015 safety training required.
  • Journeyperson carpentry certificate is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial carpentry experience.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand project specs.

Responsibilities

  • Finish with hanging steel doors and grout work.
  • Install temporary hoardings and ensure compliance with codes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine specs.
  • Prepare layouts per building codes with measuring tools.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials (wood, steel).
  • Build foundations, install beams, subflooring, walls and roofs.
  • Install trim items like doors and molding.

Nason Contracting Group Ltd. is currently seeking Journeyperson Carpenters for work at our Compost project in Calgary, AB.

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday
  • Benefits and RRSP Provided As Per Collective Agreement
  • Note: This scope is 3-4 weeks of work.
What You Will Be Working On
  • Finishing with hanging steel doors and grout work
  • Installation, modification, and maintenance of temporary hoardings, ensuring they meet safety standards, building codes, and project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirement
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and/or other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and or roof systems
  • Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, molding and hardware
What We Are Looking For

  • ESC Fall Protection
  • Valid Journeyperson certificate in the trade of Carpentry
  • Familiarity with fall protection and engineered lift plans related to Doka setups
  • Extensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
  • The ability to lift, carry and handle weight up to 50lbs
  • Must have at least 2 years of commercial experience
  • Must be organized, self-driven, and have ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
