Job summary

Kibbi Technologies Inc. is seeking a skilled carpenter for on-site construction work in Halifax, Nova Scotia. You will read blueprints, measure and cut materials, and oversee site activities to ensure work meets building codes and schedules.

The role requires 1 year to less than 2 years of experience and a secondary school graduation. Frequent travel may be required and safety practices are essential.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation required.
• 1 year to less than 2 years experience in construction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Prepare tenders and quotations
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
• Survey building locations and levels
• Instruct apprentices
• Supervise other workers
• Estimate costs and materials
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
