SEYMOUR PACIFIC DEVELOPMENTS LTD in Fernie, BC is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our residential construction team. You will read blueprints, frame structures, install windows and doors, and work safely on site to support project schedules.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of wood-frame residential construction experience.
  • Knowledge of building techniques, blueprints and building codes.
  • Red Seal Certification required.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Construct frameworks, structures, and fixtures using various materials.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood and other materials.
  • Build or assist in back framing, stair forming and site amenities
  • Install windows, doors, flooring, and cabinetry.
  • Perform concrete formwork, framing, and finishing work.
  • Inspect and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Train and supervise apprentices and helpers.
  • Collaborate with other trades and construction professionals.
  • Troubleshoot construction issues and provide solutions.
  • Adhere to workplace safety regulations and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as required

Job description

We are currently looking for a Carpenter to join our site in Fernie, BC. The role will perform a variety of residential construction‑related duties to support the delivery of project schedules. The Carpenter must have working knowledge of the residential construction industry and uphold the highest safety standards while on the job.

Your contribution to the team includes:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Construct frameworks, structures, and fixtures using various materials.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood and other materials.
  • Build or assist in back framing, stair forming and site amenities
  • Install windows, doors, flooring, and cabinetry.
