Job summary

Seymour Pacific Developments' Fernie site is hiring a Carpenter to support residential construction and project schedules. You will read blueprints, cut and fit wood, install fixtures, and collaborate with trades while maintaining safety standards.

Requires two years of wood-frame experience and Red Seal certification. We offer wages from $24.80 to $31 per hour, plus extended health, vision and dental coverage, an employee assistance program, and in-house development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of wood frame residential construction experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret specifications.
  • Red Seal Certification preferred or achievable.
  • Strong safety alignment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise apprentices and coordinate trades.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Construct frameworks, structures, and fixtures using various materials.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood and other materials.
  • Build or assist in back framing, stair forming and site amenities.
  • Install windows, doors, flooring, and cabinetry.
  • Perform concrete formwork, framing, and finishing work.
  • Inspect and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Train and supervise apprentices and helpers.
  • Collaborate with other trades and construction professionals.
  • Troubleshoot construction issues and provide solutions.
  • Adhere to workplace safety regulations and PPE usage.
  • Perform other duties as required

Job description

We are currently looking for a Carpenter to join our site in Fernie, BC. The role will perform a variety of residential construction-related duties to support the delivery of project schedules. The Carpenter must have working knowledge of the residential construction industry and uphold the highest safety standards while on the job.

Your contribution to the team includes:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Construct frameworks, structures, and fixtures using various materials.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood and other materials.
  • Build or assist in back framing, stair forming and site amenities
  • Install windows, doors, flooring, and cabinetry.
  • Perform concrete formwork, framing, and finishing work.
  • Inspect and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Train and supervise apprentices and helpers.

What you need to be successful:

  • 2 years’ experience in wood frame residential construction
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all building techniques, blueprints, and building codes
  • Red Seal Certification
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Established excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects.
