Job summary

Autism Services in Canada seeks a skilled carpenter to construct and renovate wooden structures across various sites, including industrial facilities and residences. You will read blueprints, prepare layouts, measure and cut wood, and install floors, walls, windows and doors as part of multi-site projects.

Ideal candidates will have experience reading drawings, following building codes, and coordinating on-site activities with apprentices and teammates.

Qualifications

  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood or substitutes.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites.
  • Survey building locations and levels.
  • Instruct apprentices and supervise other workers.
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.
