Job summary

SHARE Family & Community Services Society in the Tri-Cities area seeks an Employment Support Worker to assist job seekers in overcoming barriers, creating an Employment Action Plan, and connecting to supportive services. You will coordinate referrals, guidance, and problem solving to help clients reach their employment goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum A. in a related human/social service field.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent related experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written (English language) and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of community resources and systemic issues (poverty, unemployment, stigma, health issues).
  • Strong employment counselling and labour market knowledge for the Lower Mainland.
  • Team player; able to work within a performance-based contract.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to achieve Labour Market or Community Attachment including addressing client barriers and building on client strengths.
  • Assess clients and refer to appropriate interventions for employment and related support services.
  • Administer Formal Needs Assessments with clients using various tools.
  • Develop and monitor Return to Work Action Plans with clients in consultation with the supervisor and/or team.
  • Assist clients to access Workshops, Training, Self-Employment, Job Development, Short-Term Training and/or Wage Subsidy support services.
