Job summary

Sault Area High School & Career Center is seeking a Career and Technical Education Specialist in Manufacturing to support students in Auto, Drafting, Construction, and Woods pathways. The role includes reading and math intervention, advisory participation, and data-entry responsibilities.

Regular hours 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. with bus loop supervision mornings and after school; full benefit package and paid time off provided. Prior manufacturing experience in two areas is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor or Associates Degree preferred.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License.
• Documented training or participation in reading.
• Previous work experience with high school aged students.
• Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication.
• Documented work experience and/or training in manufacturing areas (2 of 4).
• Working knowledge in at least 2 of the following areas: Automotive, Construction, Drafting, Machining.

Responsibilities

• Serve all assigned students in the CTE programs as identified by the Career Center Director.
• Assist with manufacturing trades and reading/technical skills; aid math competency.
• Support instructors by assisting Special Populations students needing help in class tasks.
• Assist in developing supplementary materials and monitor progress and attendance.
• Submit student reports on schedule and provide documentation to the Director.
• Prepare individual student files and participate in advisory meetings and CTE events.
• Enter quarterly/semester grades for records in the CTE data system.
• Attend MOSPA conference in the Spring (optional).
• Execute other duties as assigned; provide math intervention.
• Supervise bus loop in morning and after school.

Job Goals

Help identify special populations students succeed in the various CTE programs to assist in achieving student success and preparation for certification and testing.

Performance Responsibilities

• Serve all assigned students in the CTE programs as identified by the Career Center Director
• Serve assigned students in the areas of manufacturing for the trades and assist with reading and technical skills necessary to succeed in the CTE programs, as well as administer assistance in the area math.
• Provide assistance to the instructors by working with Special Populations students who need extra help with classroom tasks.
• Assist in the development of supplementary materials.
• Monitor progress and attendance of all assigned students.
• Meet all timelines for submitting student reports.
• Provide assistance to the Career Center Director upon request.
• Submit contact sheets and calendar of classroom schedules monthly to the Director
• Preparation of individual student files
• Participation in advisory committee meetings and CTE functions including awards ceremony
• Input quarterly and semester grades in database to provide to the CTE Secretary or designee in timely manner (Fall and Spring)
• Participate in MOSPA conference in the Spring (optional)
• CTEIS Follow up reports of graduates (phone calls and data entry)
• Other duties as assigned
• Prepare, administer, evaluate and assist students with math intervention.

The Sault Ste. Marie Area School District hasone elementary school- grades K-5, one Middle School (grades 5-8), one High School and Career Center (grades 9-12), and one Alternative High School. In addition, several cooperative articulation agreements with Lake Superior State University and Bay Mills Community College are presently in effect. Sault Ste. Marie is a ClassB high school participating in the Straits Area Conference. Presently there are 30 teams Grades 7-12 participating in the interscholastic athletic program. Baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, hockey, soccer, softball, track, volleyball, and wrestling are offered, as well as an array of other extra-curricular activities. THE COMMUNITY The Sault Ste. Marie Area Public School District is located at the northernmost end of I-75 on the Canadian border in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.
