Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Care Team Assistant to join the Stroke Unit at Valley Regional Hospital in the Western Zone. This casual hourly long-assignment role (100%) supports patients with activities of daily living under the supervision of health professionals.

Candidates must complete the Continuing Care Assistant Program, hold provincial certification and be registered with the CCA Registry, and maintain current Basic Life Support. French is an asset.

Qualifications

• Must have completed the Continuing Care Assistant Program.
• Provincial Certification and active CCA Registry is required.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification is required.
• Effective listening and communication skills are essential.
• French language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, hands-on care based on patient needs and plan of care.

About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager and working under the supervision or direction of regulated health professionals, the Care Team Assistant provides direct, hands‑on care based on the needs of the patient and program/unit. As a member of the collaborative care team, the Care Team Assistant is responsible for supporting patients’ activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living. The Care Team Assistant also reinforces patient and family teaching according to established guidelines and the plan of care.

About You

• Continuing Care Assistant Program
• Provincial Certification with Department of Health and Wellness

• Current Basic Life Support Certification
• Demonstrates effective listening skills
• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Where there are no applicants with provincial certification the employer may consider candidates who are eligible to write the CCA knowledge exam and obtain certification within 1 year from their date of hire.

Hours

• Full time, long assignment; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation And Benefits

$24.91 - $28.37 hourly
