Job summary

William Osler Health System in Brampton is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for the Medicine Cardiology unit. This part-time role covers days/evenings, 8/12 hour shifts, with responsibilities across assessment, planning and patient-centred care.

The RPN collaborates with the inter-professional team to deliver safe care and comprehensive discharge instructions. The position requires current registration in Ontario, BCLS, and relevant cardiology experience.

Qualifications

• Cardiology experience within last five years, with a minimum of two years acute medicine.
• Coronary Care I required.
• Must pass an arrhythmia interview quiz with 80% to move on.
• Must pass cardiology challenge exam with 80% within 30 days of hire.
• Experience performing 12-lead ECG and rhythm interpretation within last two years.
• Experience with care of patients with TPN, NG tubes, chest tubes, wound care and IV therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safe nursing practice across assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Provide patient-centred care to ensure safety and well-being.
• Deliver care compassionately within a diverse cultural environment.
• Follow infection control and prevention measures.
• Respond to emergencies using transfer of accountability principles.
• Provide health teaching to patients and families including discharge instructions.
• Ensure continuity of care in the community.
